{"id":839,"date":"2012-06-21T14:47:39","date_gmt":"2012-06-21T14:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.faithgoeswalkabout.org\/?p=839"},"modified":"2012-06-21T14:47:39","modified_gmt":"2012-06-21T14:47:39","slug":"the-mustard-seed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.faithgoeswalkabout.org\/?p=839","title":{"rendered":"The Mustard Seed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Mustard Seed 2nd Sunday after Trinity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" hspace=\"10\" alt=\"mustard seed\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/www.faithgoeswalkabout.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mustardseed.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The kingdom of God is like a mustard seed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nI have to say that the world is a pretty big place.<\/p>\n<p>The vastness of the oceans, the great continents and land masses, no-one could say that our world is small.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> And the universe, well there is something that is so vast it the size is beyond our comprehension.<br \/>\nBut is that really so?<\/p>\n<p>\nA visit to <a title=\"Sydney Observatory\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sydneyobservatory.com.au\/\">Sydney Observatory<\/a>, a close look at the craters of the moon through a very large telescope and a glance at the southern skies in the planetarium&#8230; how to find an emu in the black spaces or the winged fish in the southern cross.<\/p>\n<p>This is quite a big universe we are part of.<\/p>\n<p>But how big is the kingdom of heaven? Bigger than the widest ocean, taller than the highest mountain(to quote a children&#8217;s song). But yet it is as small as a mustard seed!<\/p>\n<p>Our understanding of the size and dimensions of heaven can only ever be hinted at.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus uses this story along with the other parables as a way of trying to makes sense to us and to the people he was talking to on the banks of the <a title=\"Sea of Galillee\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sea_of_Galilee\">Sea of Galilee <\/a> about the kingdom.
